    Living History Weekend: 4-5 July

A living history weekend for all the family

The Erskine Regiment are setting up an authentic 17th-century camp at the castle. Meet the regiment’s armourer and surgeon. Watch musket, pike and sword displays (with live musket firing), marching through the grounds, and cannon fire you’ll feel as much as hear.

Talks across the weekend include the MacDougalls in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the Scottish Covenanters in the West Highlands.

There will be loads for children to get stuck into – with hands-on activities, arts and crafts, history up close.

The Kettle Garden Café will be open both days for food, with home baking, and hot and cold drinks.
