About this objectLeather and velvet hat, possibly of traditional Welsh style. Conical with upturned brim, covered in black velvet. Length of gold braid stitched vertically on front of crown, bordered on each side by four ridges created using wooden strips stitched below the fabric. Five thread-covered buttons are stitched randomly onto this front panel and one button is stitched onto the side. Brown leather band stitched inside rim. Brown and green triangular strengthening pieces are stitched to this and connected with string threaded through their tops. White paper pasted inside and two ribbons attached to tie under chin.
