Glazed, white with transfer-printed design in mid-blue and dark cobalt blue, known as ‘Burns Pattern’. Design comprises Chinese dragons and lions against a geometric background pattern of horizontal short lines and stylised floral motifs, with a ‘Persian’ style scrolled border design below the rim of both cup and saucer. Quote from poem / song by Robert Burns, ‘We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet for days o’ auld lang syne’, printed inside rim of cup. Maker’s marks (including an oval outlined with dots containing wording, printed in blue, and separate numbers) on base of each.
